Accident claims life of law enforcement veteran

The law enforcement community is mourning the death of one of their own. Sammy Slatten, an investigator with the Erath County district attorney's office, was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning in Parker County. He was 45.
District Judge Jason Cashon hired Slatten in the fall of 2011 while he served as the district attorney.
"He was the kind of guy that everyone liked right away," Cashon said. "If you didn't get to know him you missed out."
