‘I seriously hope you rot in hell’

Published April 3, 2012 TEXAS CITY — Relatives of two men slain during a barroom shooting blasted a defendant Monday during a sentencing hearing on a capital murder charge, telling him where they hoped he spends eternity.

Friday, a jury convicted Robert Hernandez Ramos, 62, of a charge of capital murder of multiple persons, stemming from what prosecutors deemed an execution-style shooting of his father-in-law, Robert Sias Cantu, 67.

In videotaped statements, Ramos admitted planning Cantu’s slaying at Little Doggie bar, 527 Texas Ave., in Texas City. The bullet that passed through Cantu’s head also lodged in the shoulder of Evelyn Busby. Her injury wasn’t life threatening.

Roger Robinson Sr., a former Houston police officer, chased Ramos from the side door and tackled him. Ramos tried to free himself and shot Robinson in the stomach. Robinson died at the hospital, testimony revealed.
