A 1-year-old boy with special needs is looking for a loving family after suffering abuse at the hands of his parents.
The baby’s mother, Natisha Christine Finch, 21, of Jacksonville, pleaded guilty to two counts of injury to a child, a first-degree felony, Wednesday.
One count was by act and another was by omission for failure to seek medical treatment for her son, Cherokee County First Assistant District Attorney Rachel Patton said.
Second Judicial District Court Judge Dwight Phifer accepted the plea for 20 years in prison on each count. The sentences will run concurrently.
The mother also pleaded true to the allegation that a deadly weapon was used as well as an enhancement paragraph alleging a prior conviction or adjudication, Ms. Patton said. Ms. Finch already has jail credit and will be eligible for parole after she serves 10 years.
