SEGUIN - A 21-year-old Seguin man has been sentenced to a 10-year term in state prison after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Deddrick Dwayne Hunt was indicted in September 2011 on accusations of striking two men with a metal baseball bat.

Hunt accepted a plea agreement calling for a maximum of a 12-year term in prison, and Second 25th District Judge W.C. "Bud" Kirkendall on Feb. 7 assessed punishment of 10 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Hunt was arrested by Seguin police on June 3, 2011 on a warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a fight on May 28, 2011 at Walmart. When initially reported, the fight was said to involve three men including one who was using a baseball bat to hit the others. Police said there were no serious injuries in the melee.
