Capital murder defendant pleads guilty to assault

Published March 28, 2012 TEXAS CITY — A man accused of fatally shooting two bar patrons and injuring a third said Tuesday he was innocent of capital murder but guilty of aggravated assault.

Robert Hernandez Ramos, 62, made his pleadings during a Tuesday arraignment after a jury of six men and six women was selected to hear the case of the Dec. 4, 2010, execution-style slaying of his father-in-law, Robert Sias Cantu, 67.

A bullet that injured Cantu also struck Evelyn Busby, who was standing at the jukebox inside Little Doggie Bar, 527 Texas Ave., Texas City police said.
