Defendant in Road Rage Trial Says Victim Is At Fault

CORPUS CHRISTI - Road rage cost one local woman an arm last year and today she was in court to testify against the man who caused the crash. Police say last March, David Schubert cut off a truck along North Padre Island Drive near Bear Lane. Detectives say the couple in the truck made a couple gestures and Schubert started bumping their vehicle with his pickup truck causing both vehicles to roll over.
Defendant David Schubert has a different account of what happened that night. He claims it started when the other driver, Jose Bayarena displayed some obscene gestures at him. "Mr Bayarena went over to the right lane and flipped me the bird. I flipped it back at him and he went to making more gestures and yelling," Schubert testified.
