FORT WORTH -- A Forest Hill man convicted of fatally shooting a Mansfield teen who got into a fistfight with his girlfriend has been sentenced to 22 years in prison by a Tarrant County jury.

Darius Howard, 21, was convicted of murder last week in state District Judge Louis Sturns' court in the death of Alysha Tann, 19, on Nov. 21, 2010. The shooting occurred outside the Heather Glen Townhomes in the 2300 block of Ridge Run Road in Arlington.

According to witnesses, Tann got into a brief fistfight with Howard's girlfriend and then another scuffle broke out between two other girls. Moments after the second fight ended, Howard fired seven times into the crowd. Tann was struck in the chest and later died; another bystander was shot in the leg but recovered.
