A Midland man who was found guilty Monday for choking his estranged wife last April was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday morning.

A 142nd District Court jury found Bobby Robert Medrano guilty of a third-degree felony of assault of a family member by strangulation.

Medrano was acquitted Monday of a first-degree felony of aggravated kidnapping after he took his wife from her bed on April 10 and dragged her down the block to another family member's home.

Court testimony showed that Medrano repeatedly beat his wife in the face and choked her during the incident.
