JEFFERSON COUNTY - From District Attorney's Office - Tyler Utkov, 26, of Beaumont, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday afternoon after a Jefferson County jury found him guilty of the May 7, 2009 offense of Indecency with a Child. The sentence was the result after a two-day trial in the 252nd District Court of Jefferson County, Texas, Judge Layne Walker presiding.

Evidence from the trial showed that Utkov was a friend of the family of the 7-year old victim in the case. Utkov had been left alone with the 7-year old girl while the mother left the house on Cartwright Street to conduct some errands. The 7-year old girl testified that while alone Utkov tried to kiss her on the lips and then touched her in an inappropriate manner. Several days after the incident the child told a relative of the family about the actions of Utkov.
