CROCKETT — Aaron Wade Pennington, who pleaded guilty last month to multiple counts of sexual misconduct involving children, was formally sentenced during a brief proceeding Thursday morning at the Houston County Courthouse.
On Jan. 26, the 31-year-old Pennington, who previously served on the Grapeland City Council, pleaded guilty to seven separate charges as part of a plea agreement with the state, receiving the maximum prison sentence on each count.
After pleading guilty, Pennington asked the court for “time to put his personal affairs in order,” according to Houston County District Attorney Donna Gordon Kaspar, with 349th State District Judge Pam Foster Fletcher setting his formal sentencing date for Thursday.
Dressed in a navy blue jacket, tie and tan slacks Thursday, Pennington said little during the 15-minute proceeding, speaking only to answer questions from the court.
