CROCKETT — Aaron Wade Pennington, who pleaded guilty last month to multiple counts of sexual misconduct involving children, was formally sentenced during a brief proceeding Thursday morning at the Houston County Courthouse.

On Jan. 26, the 31-year-old Pennington, who previously served on the Grapeland City Council, pleaded guilty to seven separate charges as part of a plea agreement with the state, receiving the maximum prison sentence on each count.

Dressed in a navy blue jacket, tie and tan slacks Thursday, Pennington said little during the 15-minute proceeding, speaking only to answer questions from the court.
