Port Neches woman convicted of murder gets 15 years

Victoria Dozier has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The 54-year-old Port Neches woman was convicted of murder by a jury earlier today.

Dozier was charged in Joseph Raymond Barton's May 2010 shooting death. She testified last week that she shot the 38-year-old Barton in self defense after enduring hours of physical abuse.

Barton, her boyfriend, was shot five times.

The jury deliberated for more than three hours before returning the verdict at 1:45 p.m.
