Providing help for victims

HUNTSVILLE — Lisa Anderson knows all to well how important her job as the city of Huntsville’s Victim Service Coordinator is.
She began laying the ground work years ago for her future job as the person who is called upon to provide assistance to victims of crimes throughout the entire judicial process.
In the 1990s, Anderson took some courses on becoming a foster parent and she and her husband adopted their children through Child Protective Services. She got her first experience in helping others, but then she found out what it was like to be in the same shoes as the people she is trying to help.
Twelve years ago, Anderson’s husband was killed when the driver of another vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with his car. In one tragic incident, she became a victim.
