Reed found guilty of reckless injury to child, given 20-year maximum sentence

After approximately 3 hours of deliberation on Wednesday, Robert Lee Reed Jr. of Navasota, 19, who was charged with first-degree offense injury to a child related to a June 3, 2010 incident, was found guilty of a second-degree offense reckless injury to child.
Immediately following sentencing, Judge Albert "Buddy" McCaig of the 506th District Court held a sentencing hearing and handed down a 20 year-sentence, which is the maximum sentence for the second-degree felony. The initial injury to child charge carries possible punishment of up to life in prison.
During the hearing, Reed's mother and grandmother asked Judge McCaig to give Reed probation.
