Gainesville — A Cooke County intoxication manslaughter case from June 2010 ended with Monday’s sentencing of Steve Robert Patterson, 66, of Lake Kiowa.

Patterson received a maximum term of 20 years for causing the death of brother David Patterson, 58, during a rollover accident near FM 3092 on the night of June 24, 2010.

A Register story reported that shortly after 10 p.m., Steve Patterson was driving his blue 2008 Chevy Corvette with brother David as a passenger while under the influence of alcohol. He veered at high speed off a curved roadway and hit a ditch near FM 3092, igniting the vehicle and killing David Patterson at the scene.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt when the Corvette crashed. Steve Patterson, who sustained only minor injuries, was later charged with a second-degree felony of intoxication manslaughter.
