Published November 10, 2011 TEXAS CITY — A jury deliberated just 45 minutes Wednesday before finding a teenager guilty of murder in a deadly shooting last year, a prosecutor said.
Santos Rene Almanzar IV, 17, was charged in the Jan. 18, 2010, shooting of Jack Briscoe III at Palmer House apartments, 2405 Palmer Highway, in Texas City. Briscoe, 36, died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Almanzar, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, was certified to stand trial as an adult last year.
The jury of seven men and five women found Almanzar guilty after hearing testimony from an eyewitness Tuesday.
Dashaela Davis, 16, testified she was visiting her aunt at the complex and was sitting outside in a chair next to the self-service laundry room when three people came down a nearby staircase.
