Ybarra says she wishes she'd died in wreck

On the witness stand again after being found guilty of intoxication manslaughter, Jenny Ann Ybarra told jurors Tuesday that although she is the mother of two, she has wished since “day one” that she, and not the woman she killed in the 2007 accident, had left this world.
When her attorney Roy Barrera Jr. asked if she thought she needed to be put in a prison cell to protect the community, Ybarra answered, “No.”
The past four years and two months already felt like probation, Ybarra, 32, said during the punishment phase of her trial in the 437th District Court, and she wanted to be home to raise her two children.
