Cherokee County District Attorney Beckworth Honored

A Cherokee County prosecutor received top honors from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association during the weekend.
Cherokee County District Attorney Elmer Beckworth was named Prosecutor of the Year Saturday during the association’s 135th annual convention and trade show, his office announced Monday.
The award is given by the special rangers for prosecution of agribusiness crimes and cattle rustling as well as general rural crimes, according to a news release.
Beckworth said the association primarily looks at prosecutors in rural areas and cases they’ve done that involve farmers and ranchers as victims.
