Robbers strike Fort Worth eight-liner business

FORT WORTH -- A north Fort Worth eight-liner business had an unlucky morning after two armed men forced their way into the business and stole approximately $2,000 and the security guard’s gun.
The robbery occurred about 1 a.m. this morning at the Hollywood Palms Eight Liners at 3655 N. Beach Street.

Teen with bullet in head goes to trial today

The trial of a Port Arthur teen who prosecutors believe has a piece of evidence lodged in his head will begin Tuesday.
Joshua Adams Bush, 19, is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as well as retaliating against a witness. The retaliation charge, a first-degree felony, is related to a car lot robbery prosecutors believe Bush was involved in. Bush faces a maximum sentence of life in prison on that charge.

Barring a successful appeal, Juan Jose Ponce will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
An Ector County jury sentenced the 40-year-old Odessan to six life sentences Monday - three of which will be served consecutively - on six charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Jury finds man guilty in fisherman murder

A Cameron County jury has found Jose Miguel Vasquez Jr., 41, guilty in the May 2006 stabbing death of Port Isabel fisherman George Garza.
The jury deliberated for about three hours before reaching a decision shortly after 3 p.m. this afternoon.
Authorities said Vasquez stabbed Garza 33 times on the night of May 16, 2006 at Oliveira Park on El Paso Road.

HENDERSON, Texas -- A court date has been set for a man charged with capital murder in the 1983 deaths of five people abducted from a Kilgore restaurant.
Judge J. Clay Gossett said in court on Tuesday that trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 15 in the 85th District Court in Brazos County for Darnell Hartsfield.
