ANGLETON — Tears fell from the eyes of Bobby Wayne
Dollarhide’s daughter as she told Joshua Lane of the pain he caused her
family by killing her father.
“The
death of my father has changed my life,” Mary Dollarhide, 15, said as
she struggled with emotion Thursday during Lane’s sentencing hearing.
“I will not have a father-daughter dance at my wedding. My dad has been
taken from me. Your mother will visit you and say she loves you. My
grandmother will never look into her son’s eyes again.”
A jury
of six men and six women Thursday returned a sentence of life in prison
for Lane, a day after convicting him of murder and two counts of
robbery for the Aug. 18 slaying of Dollarhide, 41, and the shooting of
another man.
Lane, of Houston, was accused of entering an
Alvin hotel and robbing two men of several hundred dollars, then
shooting Dollarhide in the abdomen and a second man in the leg.
