Funding issue may delay trial
COOPER — A Cooper man arrested last year in the
shooting death of his estranged wife remains in a Delta County Jail
charged with capital murder, and a funding issue could delay the trial

District Attorney Martin Braddy said he hopes to get
Ricky Barnett on trial in the next couple of months, but first he must
talk with Delta County Commissioners about ways to pay for the trial,
which could cost $100,000 or more.
“Money is by far not the
most important factor,” Braddy said. “It would be irresponsible for me
to say it is not a factor, however.”
