GREENVILLE — Christi Denice King of Greenville, convicted of murder involving the drowning death of her infant son, was sentenced Monday to life in prison.

“She finally got caught,” Assistant District Attorney Keli Aiken said following the punishment hearing in the 196th District Court. Aiken credited Greenville Police Detective Warren Mitchell for investigating the death of 10-month old Elisiah Miguel Guajardo as a murder rather than, as King claimed, a tragic accident.

“We finally got her and she won’t harm another child,” Aiken said.

Defense attorney Jack Paris declined comment after the sentencing. He gave verbal notice during the hearing that King intended to appeal the verdict and sentence.
