Waco judges cracking down on defendants who come to court drunk or on drugs

You know you are not going to have an especially good day if you are drunk at 9 a.m. Your day can only get worse if you are drunk at 9 a.m. and standing in front of a state district judge.
It’s hardly better if you are high on crack cocaine and you notice the judge and others in the courtroom are starting to look at you a little funny.
For whatever reasons, it seems more and more criminal defendants are coming to court high or drunk, court officials say.

Judges in McLennan County are taking notice and, with increasing regularity, have been ordering those defendants to undergo drug or alcohol testing on the spot before they leave the courthouse.
