Abilene murder trial opens

Four witnesses were called to the stand this morning in the murder trial of 16-year-old suspect Michael Martinez Jr. at the Taylor County Courthouse.
Martinez is accused of murder in the 2007 beating death of 48-year-old Eric McMahon.
The four witnesses – two patrol officers who first arrived on scene and two witnesses who saw McMahon just before he was beaten – were called to the stand this morning.
The officers, Eric Vickers and Marc Valentine, testified to the condition of McMahon after they found him beaten in a Dumpster in an alley between Mockingbird Lane and Fannin Street and North 2nd and 3rd streets.
