GREENVILLE — A Hunt County man has received a combination of probation and jail time for taking inappropriate pictures with his cell phone inside a local store.

James Keith Hayes, 51, of Greenville, entered an open plea of guilty in April to one count of improper photo or visual recording during a hearing in the 354th District Court. An open plea means no potential sentence in the case had been offered or arranged.

During a Wednesday sentencing hearing, Judge Richard A. Beacom sentenced Hayes to five years of probation, with 90 days in the Hunt County Jail. Hayes had applied for probation, as he had never before been convicted of a felony.
