Efforts to crack down on drinking and driving in Montgomery County will continue during the Fourth of July weekend with major initiatives focusing on South County and Lake Conroe, officials said.

As they did over the Memorial Day weekend, officials with the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office Marine Division, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the Conroe, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge North and Splendora police departments, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be watching for drunk drivers of vehicles and boats. Anyone pulled over on suspicion of driving or boating while intoxicated who refuses to take a field sobriety or breathalyzer test will be taken to a mobile Houston Police Department unit for a blood test, said Frank Barnett, assistant district attorney.
