State school 'fight club' video could be suppressed in 1 case

Judge Longoria refuses immunity for one defendant

CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge is leaning toward suppressing the cell phone video that exposed the Corpus Christi State School fight club in which workers pitted mentally disabled residents against each other for amusement.

State District Judge Sandra Watts said Monday she might not allow the prosecution to use the video against one defendant, and that if she does so, the ruling wouldn't apply to the cases against other former state school workers.

Her statement means that a jury likely won't see the videos in the case against Timothy Dixon - if the case proceeds at all. Dixon is accused of organizing fights among mentally disabled residents at the Corpus Christi State School.
