Financial adviser takes plea deal in theft case

CORPUS CHRISTI — An 83-year-old financial adviser has taken a plea deal for a suspended prison sentence and probation for stealing about $103,000 from clients.
William N. Kirshner pleaded no contest on Monday to second-degree felony theft and was sentenced to five years in prison. That term was suspended and he was placed on two years probation, according to the Texas State Securities Board.
Board spokesman Robert Elder said Thursday that Kirshner would pay $10,300 in restitution to eight victims, about 10 percent of the amount they had invested.
