Trial begins in aggravated assault case

A jury trial is scheduled to begin today for a Commerce teenager, indicted in connection with a throat slashing incident from last summer.
Corey Dominic Heath, 18, has reportedly confessed to slashing the throat of the victim following an argument over a shirt, although he pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in September on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Opening arguments and the start of testimony are scheduled at 9 a.m. today in the 354th District Court.
