Jurors hear 911 calls in murder trial
Defendant one of eight accused in 2008 shooting

CORPUS CHRISTI — A jury on Monday heard a series of 911 calls reporting a group of men shooting at a house, automatic weapons and an injured baby in a fatal gang-related shooting on Segrest Street.
Jose Olvera, 28, is one of eight men accused in a July 25, 2008, shooting that killed Danny Villarreal, 21, and sent three children to the hospital.
He is being tried on charges of murder, aggravated assault and two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity.
If convicted, he could face as long as life in prison.
