Convicted killer identifies defendant as participant in fatal shooting
Defense witness says man had alibi

CORPUS CHRISTI — A convicted killer on Tuesday told jurors a man on trial was involved in a gang-related shooting while another man said the defendant wasn’t even in town much of that day.
Jose Olvera, 28, is one of eight men accused in a July 25, 2008, shooting that killed Danny Villarreal, 21, and sent three children to the hospital.
He is being tried on charges of murder, aggravated assault and two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity.
