Robbery, home invasion trial begins

The trial of a 45-year-old Lubbock man accused in a series of local assaults and robberies last summer began Monday.

Malcom Dean Scott is thought to have been the driver of the vehicle involved in two robberies near Plainview Country Club on May 14, 2009.

According to police, a man entered the garage of a residence in the 3400 block of Kirchwood and removed a gold necklace from a 61-year-old woman from Alto, N.M., before hitting her in the head with a gun.
