Second man charged in slaying pleads guilty
TEXAS CITY — A co-defendant charged in the
torture slaying of a man whose body was found floating in Galveston Bay
pleaded guilty to murder and awaits sentencing, court officials said
Tuesday.
Brian O’Neal Richardson, 28, is the second person convicted in the April 12, 2008, slaying of Gary Wayne Bell.
Judge
John Ellisor accepted Richardson’s guilty plea Monday in Galveston’s
122nd District Court. Testimony in Richardson’s punishment phase began
Tuesday. He faces from five years to life in prison.
Ellisor could rule on Richardson’s sentence today.
