2010 Child Welfare Law Conference scholarships available to Texas prosecutors

Save the date and apply for a scholarship to attend the upcoming National Juvenile and Family Law Conference to be held in Austin on October 20-23, 2010.

Sponsored by the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth and Families (Children's Commission) and presented by the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC), this multi-disciplinary conference is for attorneys who represent children, parents, and DFPS in child protective services (CPS) cases.

The Children's Commission supports efforts to improve the quality of legal representation in CPS cases. To meet this goal, the Children's Commission is offering registration scholarships to qualifying Texas attorneys to attend this conference - a great opportunity to receive CLE in this important area of law!

Scholarships are available for the conference and pre-conference offerings only to Texas attorneys who:

(1) Through court appointments, represent parents or children in CPS cases; or

(2) Represent DFPS in CPS cases.

As there is a limited number of scholarships available for this conference, scholarship applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning March 1, 2010.

To apply, each attorney must visit the NACC conference link, http://www.naccchildlaw.org/?page=National_Conference or the Texas scholarship page, http://www.naccchildlaw.org/?page=TexasScholarship beginning March 1st. The application requests information regarding the type of representation the attorney provides, as well as the primary judge before whom the attorney appears. After the application is completed, the NACC will provide qualifying attorneys with a promotion code to use when registration opens later in 2010. Qualifying attorneys will also receive a reminder email upon opening of conference registration.

Scholarships do not include funding for travel and lodging.
