Admitted heroin user gets 60 years in son's death

A San Antonio man who pleaded guilty last month to beating his child to death while under the influence of heroin returned to the courtroom Wednesday — this time flashing an obscene gesture at those in attendance after the judge handed him a 60-year prison sentence.

Ronnie Rokky Ramos, 23, received the maximum sentence under a plea agreement in which he admitted causing the Dec. 1, 2007, murder of his 16-month-old son, Ronce.

The baby, who Ramos told police he suspected wasn't his, died of “multiple blunt force trauma to the head,” according to an autopsy report.

“One of the things I've taken into consideration is ... your lack of remorse,” state District Judge Catherine Torres-Stahl said as she announced the sentence, which also included a $1,500 fine.
