Man convicted of killing missing GM worker gets 99 years in separate case

FORT WORTH -- Rodney Owens was already serving a life sentence for murder in the death of Glenda Gail Furch when Tarrant County prosecutors offered him a deal: Tell us what happened to Furch's body, and we will drop other charges against you.

Owens refused to cooperate, so prosecutors took him to trial this week in an aggravated-assault case that occurred in 2007, six days after authorities believe that Furch was killed.

The outcome: Owens, 42, was convicted of assault, sentenced Wednesday to 99 years in prison, and ordered to serve his two sentences consecutively, which will keep him in prison for at least 60 years, prosecutors said.
