Drunken driver asks jury for leniency in Dallas wrong-way death

A Dallas County jury today will continue deliberating the punishment of a man who drove the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway while drunk and killed a passenger in another car.

James Giraldo, 27, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and has asked the jury for leniency, saying he has thought about the death of 27-year-old Juliana Rincon-Cuartas every day since the accident in October 2008. He is eligible for probation but could spend up to 20 years in prison.

After the accident, he put a picture of Rincon-Cuartas on his refrigerator.
