Man gets 41 years for role in torture, slaying

TEXAS CITY — After admitting, only to an extent, his role in a torture slaying at a Texas City hotel, a man who pleaded guilty to murder learned his punishment Thursday.

Brian O’Neal Richardson, 28, was sentenced to 41 years in prison by Judge John Ellisor, just one year longer than Ellisor gave Richardson’s co-defendant, William Henry Perry in October.

Richardson and Perry, 50, were convicted in the May 12, 2008, slaying of Gary Wayne Bell, who was beaten, hogtied and asphyxiated in a hotel room and dumped in Galveston Bay.
