A woman from Guy who admitted stealing money from a Needville grocery received 10 years’ probation Monday, among other penalties, from Judge Jim Shoemake of the 434th District Court.

Laura Elizabeth Mager, 24, pleaded guilty in the same court in January to felony theft and misapplication of property by a fiduciary. At Monday’s punishment hearing, in addition to the 10 years’ probation, she received a sentence of 200 hours community service, $70,000 in restitution and an order to write a letter of apology to the store owners.

    She has paid the restitution.

Also, starting in March 2011, Mager will have to serve seven days a month in jail every March. She will serve two weekends and a day for eight years, every March.
