Trial of man charged in kidnapping of his girlfriend gets under way today

The trial of an Angelina County man accused of being connected with a gang-related kidnapping last summer begins today.
Christopher “Kid” Guffey, 30, whose trial begins today, and five others were arrested on aggravated kidnapping charges in June 2009.
Stephen DeWayne Wallace, known as “Caveman” within the Aryan Brotherhood — a white supremacist prison gang — reportedly ordered gang members to kidnap his girlfriend at a northwest Lufkin residence, according to an arrest report. The Lufkin Daily News is withholding the girlfriend’s name to protect her identity. The report stated that Guffey and another man, Gary “Lucky” Allen, 30, arrived at the home and told the girlfriend to get in a Ford Crown Victoria waiting out front.
