Information about certain federal student loan repayment and forgiveness programs

July 1, 2010

In addition to the John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program that TDCAA has been publicizing, there are other loan repayment/forgiveness programs that may also benefit our members.  A good resource for information about those programs is IBRinfo.

IBRinfo was created by the non-profit, non-partisan Project on Student Debt to help student loan borrowers learn about two new federal loan programs:  Income-Based Repayment (IBR) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

IBRinfo's Frequently Asked Questions page provides answers to commonly asked questions as well as links to other resources that could help you.  They also provide periodic updates on those programs, such as this one:

Important Changes to IBR as of July 1, 2010:  "Today, updated rules for Income-Based Repayment go into effect to make the program more fair for married borrowers and those who owe more than when they finished school."  For more details about those changes, click HERE.

Please keep checking this website for update information about all loan repayment/forgiveness programs.
