“You are a poor excuse for a human being,” Kimberly Garcia told Conrado Vela, III in the 156th District Courtroom here Wednesday afternoon.
“I hope you burn in hell,” she added.
Garcia was speaking to Vela only minutes after District Judge Janna Whatley sentenced him to 50 years in prison for an aggravated kidnapping conviction. She said she was speaking for herself and other women he had victimized over the years.
The statement came at the end of three days of courtroom drama during which Garcia and three other women testified before an eight-man, four-woman jury.
Whatley also handed down a sentence of two years in a state jail facility and a $10,000 fine for a conviction on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He will serve that sentence concurrently with the kidnapping conviction.
