BEAUMONT, Teaxas - A Port Arthur man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for a 2003 aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Sanford Wayne Guillory, 39, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in July of 2003 at a Beaumont home after several months of inappropriate touching and fondling, according to a Jefferson County District Attorney's Office news release.

Guillory was acquainted with the child through her mother. Further clarification of the relationship between Guillory and his victim was withheld to avoid revealing her identity, in accordance with The Enterprise's practices.

The victim had reported the rape to Beaumont police officers shortly after it happened, and she was examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner.

However, her mother moved away before Guillory was indicted, so detectives could not find her to pursue charges in the case. The victim returned to the police department in 2009 as an adult and the case was reopened with her cooperation.
