A Collin County jury on Thursday found a Louisiana man guilty of five counts of manslaughter in the deaths of a Plano family leaving church two years ago.

After less than 2 ½ hours of deliberations, jurors decided that 48-year-old David Calhoun Jones recklessly caused the deaths of the five family members and that his vehicle was a deadly weapon when it struck their minivan.

Senior District Judge Quay Parker ordered that Jones be remanded into the custody of the Sheriff's Department until the conclusion of the trial's punishment phase. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Jones has stayed in various medical facilities since the wreck on June 22, 2008, that left him a paraplegic. Thursday was his first night in jail.

The wreck instantly killed Geoff Hart; his wife, Christy; and their 12-year-old daughter, Rebekah. The family's two foster children, Kevinnesha Palmer, 6, and Raven Lucas, 5, died later at area hospitals. All five suffered multiple blunt force injuries.
