A Collin County jury has found a Dallas woman guilty of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault after she drove the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway while drunk last year and caused a wreck that killed a Little Elm teenager.

"She made choices to drink, she made choices to get intoxicated, and she made choices to get behind the wheel of a car," prosecutor Blake Glover said in closing statements.

That sealed the fate, he said, of 16-year-old Kara Taylor, who was killed in the crash, and Kara's best friend, who was injured.

Mariza Rodriguez Martinez was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. The punishment phase of the trial is scheduled to start this morning. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
