GALVESTON — A jury Monday afternoon sentenced a man whose own lawyer described him as “the island freak” to 20 years in prison.

The same six-man, six-woman panel convicted Allen Garrett Castleschouldt, 55, late Friday, of indecency with a child, criminal solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography. Jurors gave Castleschouldt the maximum sentence for each charge, including fines totaling $30,000.

The charges stemmed from claims by a girl, 13, who told police that in late 2006, Castleschouldt had groped her breasts, photographed her nude and offered her money for sex. Those claims led to a trial that started eight days ago.
