A Hays County jury found Cesar Mojica Carmona guilty Thursday on 14 counts of injury to a child. Each felony count carries a possible penalty of as many as 99 years in prison.

Jurors will take up sentencing today.

Mojica Carmona, 24, was accused of biting, hitting and whipping his three children, breaking their bones and not giving them enough food.

In 2006, his 4-year-old daughter and 3-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, were taken from the Dripping Springs-area home that Mojica Carmona shared with their mother, Sara Amaya. Amaya is also charged with several felony counts of injury to a child.

The jurors, six men and six women of various ethnicities, deliberated the charges against Mojica Carmona for more than two days.
