Volunteering opportunity for Austin attorneys

YMCA Texas Youth and Government is a civics education program that trains middle school and high school students in the functioning of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. We believe “democracy must be learned by each generation” in order to survive, and our students learn the fundamentals of democracy by participating as elected officials, legislators, attorneys, judges, witnesses, lobbyists, and media delegates. High school participants practice fundamental civic skills in the fall and show off their knowledge through legislative sessions, mock trials, media publications, and elections held during our State Conference in Austin (January 24-27, 2019).

Our judicial section relies heavily on practicing attorneys and legal staff to judge delegate performances as attorneys, judges, and witnesses in mock Appellate, District, and County Court trials. Members of Texas District and County Attorneys Association who might be interested in serving as evaluators at our Conference can click on our Volunteer Interest Form (https://www.tfaforms.com/4687778) to sign up.
