Assistant County and District Attorney

The Falls County and District Attorney’s Office is seeking applications for a full-time assistant prosecutor position to prosecute and manage the misdemeanor docket and the CPS caseload for Falls County.  The selected candidate will handle all aspects of misdemeanor prosecution including case intake, plea negotiations, pre-trial hearings, jury trials, and probation revocation hearings.  The candidate will also handle the office’s CPS caseload, including screening new cases with DFPS caseworkers, representing DFPS in court, and handling the various types of hearings and trials associated with CPS cases.  The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to learn from and assist the elected County & District Attorney with the felony docket.

Other job duties include attending Commissioners Court meetings, reviewing and drafting various legal documents for Commissioners Court, and giving legal advice to the County Judge and Commissioners as needed.

Our office is located in the newly restored historic courthouse in Marlin, Texas, 30 miles southeast of Waco and two hours from Dallas.  The base salary for the position is up to $85,040, with benefits including a county retirement plan, health insurance, bar dues, and CLE.
