Position: Assistant County & District Attorney

Job Description: The Lamb County & District Attorney’s Office is seeking a full-time Assistant CA/DA. We are a small office, with two attorneys and two legal assistants. Our office is responsible for prosecuting adult and juvenile misdemeanor and felony offenses as well as Class C offenses (in JP Court), from trial to appeal; advising elected officials and department heads on various legal issues; and responding to Open Records Requests.
Skills Required/Duties: The selected candidate will handle all aspects of criminal prosecution, including case intake, bond hearings/detention hearings, misdemeanor arraignments, plea negotiations, trial preparation, jury and bench trials, adjudication/modification hearings, probation revocation hearings, and appeals. We are looking for someone who is exceptionally organized and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and commitment to ethical prosecution. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are a must. The attorney should be comfortable working in a team environment but also take initiative on projects with little supervision. The attorney should possess strong litigation and trial skills, comprehension of criminal law principles, the ability to review and interpret complex legal issues and conduct legal research. Proficiency in Microsoft programs and Lexis is required.
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold both undergraduate and J.D. degrees from accredited schools, and be licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar. Must have been a licensed attorney for at least 2 years, with criminal law experience.
