The Anderson County Criminal District Attorney’s office is seeking a full time Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the Misdemeanor Division, with the position starting immediately. The job entails prosecuting misdemeanor cases from intake through trial in 4 JP courts, County Court, and County Court at Law. The job duties include case evaluation, plea negotiations, trial, bond forfeiture hearings, asset seizure proceedings, advising law enforcement, and other general misdemeanor duties. Opportunities for felony trial experience will arise as well.
Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School. Licensed applicants are preferred, but those awaiting Texas Bar results are welcome to apply. Applicants must be able to multi- task, be an effective communicator, work well with others and be self-disciplined.
Salary is $61,000 and includes county benefits such as insurance and retirement. State bar dues and CLE hours are paid as well.
Anderson County is a growing but still rural East Texas County, with the County seat being located in Palestine, Texas. Palestine is approximately 45 minutes Southwest of Tyler, 2 hours Southeast of Dallas and 3 hours Northeast of Houston.
Experience in criminal law, through prior employment or internship, is preferred but is not required to apply.
